ABOUT Mapleton Family Dental
Dr. Samantha Seys took over from Jeff Taylor, D.D.S. in the fall of 2016 and is happy to continue the high standard of care, with an emphasis on prevention, that was set in place by Dr. Taylor. Dr. Seys has a true passion for cutting edge technology and treatments in dentistry, and she's excited about sharing her passion with the community of Mapleton.

The office expanded in 2018 to a new location at 102 Main St NE. Our current treatment rooms feature large windows and have open airy feeling, while still maintaining privacy. We would love to give you a tour of our office.

As the practice grew Dr. Madsen joined the practice in 2024 and became part of the Mapleton community.

Samantha Seys, DMD
"Being a general dentist is a great honor and allows me to really be available to help people in so many ways. I love all the aspects of dentistry so it would be hard to focus on just one. Surgery and extractions have been an interest for a long time, and now I am building more on growth and development for children. This area of interest also allows me to help adults with alternatives to CPAP devices and other airway concerns that adults have. Sleep and airway dentistry is something new and is very exciting. We take great pride in having a team of staff who are excited and passionate about these latest developments in dentistry.
I have done extensive training in tethered oral tissue releases, working with local area myofunctional therapists. These are more commonly known as "tongue ties" and we have a CO2 laser that allows me to perform these releases at the highest level of care with minimal discomfort after the procedure.
I am also very excited to be placing implants within our office. We use a guided surgery technique that allows us predictable outcomes with great visualization of the bone and what the implant will look like at the end of a procedure.
All these fun things are exciting and new but I take just as much pride in a simple filling. There is no area of dentistry that I don't find stimulating!"
Dr. Seys lives just north of Mapleton near the farm where she grew up and her parents still live. She has three young children that keep her very busy and she enjoys traveling and staying active while adding in as much education to stay current in dentistry.
Joel Madsen, DMD
In 2024, Dr. Madsen joined our practice and became a member of the Mapleton community. As a general dentist, he enjoys the variety of dental procedures required to solve dental problems and strives to provide excellent care in all areas of general dentistry.

Dr. Madsen chose dentistry because he saw the opportunity for a life-long career of helping people improve their health and quality of life. He recognized the importance of a healthy mouth and smile, and the positive impact they have towards overall health. What he enjoys most about being a dentist is building lasting relationships with our patients, and he looks forward to many more years of being a trusted professional in the community.

After completing his undergraduate degrees in Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Dr. Madsen went on to a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Illinois.

Dr. Madsen is happily married to his Wife, Karly, who he met in Litchfield, MN where they both grew up. When he is not treating patients at Blue Earth and Mapleton Family Dental, Dr. Madsen spends his time hunting and fishing as often as possible. He also enjoys cheering on Minnesota sports teams, gardening, camping, hanging out with his dog, and spending time with friends and family.
